Technical Sergeant Ron Bishop, an MC-130E Combat Talon loadmaster from the 16th Special Operations Wing, Hulbert Field, Florida, sits on the open ramp and is in the role of quarterback between two MH-53J Pavelow helicopters and the MC-130. His mission is to keep the three aircraft moving smoothly together during the aerial refueling mission. The helicopters and crew are from the 16th Special Operations Wing which is deployed to the Joint Special Operations Aviation Component South in a classified location in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 at the New York World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President George W. Bush initiated Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), fighting terrorism abroad.
