Space Shuttle Columbia (NASA Orbiter Vehicle Designation: OV-102) was the first spaceworthy space shuttle in NASA's orbital fleet.

Space Shuttle Columbia STS-109: (1 March 2002) --- The Space Shuttle Columbia passes through some pre-dawn clouds as it soars into the sky to begin its 27th flight, STS-109. Liftoff occurred at 6:22:02:08 a.m., EST (11:22:02:08 GMT). NASA's Space Shuttle, officially called the Space Transportation System (STS), is the spacecraft currently used by the United States government for its human spaceflight missions.

At launch, it consists of a rust-colored external tank (ET), two white, slender Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs), and the orbiter, a winged spaceplane which is the space shuttle in the narrow sense.
